I vow to have better vows at our renewal ceremony

I'll just start by saying that I am in a much better place than I was when I wrote that last post. It was a rough holiday to get through, but now it is a new year and I have a renewed sense of vigor. The restaurant reopened to the excited return of all their customers. They were packed those first two days. Really incredible how much people love going there.

So things are returning to normal. The routine is back to normal and that's good on it's own. I got a lot of writing done and am now beginning to work with an editor to get it ready to publish. (cross em if you got em)

But none of that is really why you're here, is it? Well, okay then, let's talk about the wedding. This week I dusted off the little white book and we started going over what we want to do with the plans we made. Nothing much should change. The venue has been secured, which I'll reveal where later, and now both the ceremony and reception will be in the same place!

Unfortunately, our singer who was going to accompany us down the aisle has moved away, another casualty of the restaurant fire. We have been considering short songs, but nothing definite there yet. Chef has decided the menu will be a dinner instead of finger foods. He says it's easier and can be made weeks in advance (kidding) You guys are in for a treat!

Another good thing is all the items I chose are still in my Amazon wish list. I totally forgot about some of it, which is fun because I'm getting excited for the first time again about things. We did lose our bus tickets. That was my bad. So we will start from scratch for the honeymoon. As far as I know it's still New Orleans. I'm back to shooting blanks when it comes to vows. Maybe if I pretend I'm writing a wedding scene.

Lastly, it occurred to me just the other day that I have a great opportunity since we postponed the wedding. Now I have time to lose a little weight, maybe tone up a little. The moisturizing MUST begin. I have time to play with hair styles. Get a new tattoo so it'll be all nice and healed. Train the cats to carry the hems of our wedding capes.

Move over Bride/Groomzillas. The Wedding Kraken is back for the reboot. Crushing everything in his way, and he's perfectly willing to destroy everything to get what he wants.

To get married. That's what he wants, to get married.

The Wedding Kraken is me.
Ready to destroy.

Love Bubbles #9

As I promised, here is something. The bubbles have finished their transformation.

I need to hand pick one. We are going to do a shadow box after the wedding with an invitation, the handfasting cord, some bubbles and other stuff.

I'm tired and it's just as well. The vaporizer must not have come with a full charge and I've had it charging for over an hour now and I'm not bad, I'm really not, but I feel like losing it is inevitable. Unless I go to bed, so I'm trying to fast track that. Praise Cheeses, Scott is on his way home from work. Now not only to I get to see him before bed, I can vape before bed. And don't forget the Kit-Kat I take for my rheumatiz.

Turning to Vapor

First of all, I haaaaaate window shopping. Wait, first of first of all, expect even more pictures later. I'll be finishing up the bubble bottles today. I got a little side tracked a couple of days ago when my fiancee, Scott, the cat's pajamas, surprised me with a chunk of the wedding budget. This is where I came in.

I hate window shopping. It isn't bad for something big like a wedding, but i'm a get-in and get-out kind of shopper. Usually I know what I want, having researched all my choices online, but it's frustrating because you don't get the money shot. Now,there is a different type of exploratory shopping, such as when you have a long wish list, get some money, and then I have to decide the best combination of stuff to get with what I have on hand.

Two things I did purchase already are the cake topper and our handfasting cord. The cord will have a burgundy ribbon in place of the brown ribbon.

In addition to these delights, I have a cart on Amazon and Etsy, but I will share those purchases after I make them this evening. Before I make the purchase we are leaving (yikes, in 75 minutes) to make a different purchase.

So you hear time and time again that you have to spend money to make money. Utter nonsense sometimes, but in this case it's real. Quitting smoking was a hyper-fiasco, and we are not unfamiliar with vaporizering, so we are off to get kitted up again to end the cigarettes. Vapeing (it will be in the dictionary one day) is cheaper, much cheaper. Doing it together is a double edged sword. We have each other for support, but we also must suffer the little cravings, ours and theirs, and how they make us act. Health and fortune are on the horizon. Maybe even realistically affordable insurance.

Okay, so after we get back I'll know how much I have and can order more wedding goodies. I have some great things in the carts and am very, very excited about them. I'll be back later today with both more news on shopping, as well as a look-see at the finished bubbles.

Now I just need for Scott to get up so we can go, 'cuz mama's only got 4 cigarettes left.

Weekend Progress- part one: Beginning To Bubble

Logistically, things are coming together nicely. Besides waiting for that refund from the hotel. We will breathe easier when we get the money and still have the reservation. The list has begun of things we want to do in New Orleans. I was too wiped out yesterday to post, and I'll get to what we did today in part two.

Saturday, Niecezilla brought us over to her house to play. We stopped to get the bubbles at Party City, then some paint and cardboard paper at Walmart. The bubble bottles are going to undergo a transformation. Here is the beginning of the process with a cheeky peek at my fiancee Scott working away happily. First up is me taking a picture in the downstairs bathroom to remind myself to throw some flowers or something up in there.

I'll post the whole transition when I get them done.

It was also a great opportunity to study the rooms and figure out where all the weddingy things will happen. Some things are already ready already. Like this table in the entryway. I bet I don't have to tell you what goes there.

I also was able to get specific directions as we went. All in all it was a very good day and we are both very grateful to Andrea and Jimmy for opening up their home for our reception.

As if all that wasn't good enough, we ate at my favorite restaurant...

Up next: A walk in the park

Bits, Bobs and Dangly Bits In The Morning

I'm all charged up today. Every few days I need a day of rest, I think that's how I'll get through this without becoming a pudding brain. The meeting I thought I had this morning is actually tomorrow, so I got the wedding book out and made some notes. I think I have the flowers sorted. I may be going a little 'Vicar of Dibley' with this suggestion, but Andrea asked what color dress she should wear. I answered, but I would like to ask her to consider a dress she already suggested to me, just in her size, and with burgundy...

I'm going to squeeze in some Doctor Who where I can. Speaking of, she also sent me this picture which would be a great way to add a bit of Who...

On the subject of reception decor, I need to find out if Andrea has any trees. The only time I was there we were breezing our way through on the way to my father's funeral, plus it was dark, and snowing. Anyway, I found this picture and think it's fun for those who need to 'step outside for a minute'.

Andrea sent this to me and I had to ask her what in the world it was. I liked what I saw, I just didn't know what I was seeing. They're strands of battery operated lights hung inside pantyhose.

Something to put in the maybe pile. That's a lot of strings of lights.

Scott emailed me before he came to bed last night asking me to look at a menu and tell him what I think, but he forgot to send me the menu, so I'm on tenterhooks waiting for him to get up.

I'll leave you with one more picture of something Andrea found, then I'll be back with more news. At first I dismissed it, but think it would be great to set up at the park so people who see us organizing know what's happening. I just have to find one. There is no way I can take on making one right now.
